As regular readers have seen recently (and some times in the past) occasionally this blog receives idiotic and/or racist comments. I think we can all agree this should not be tolerated. Unfortunately I'm unable to just block stupid people that post here, so what am I to do? I can think of a few options and I'd like to know what you all think.
1. Only accept comments from people with a registered Blogger account
2. I go back to moderating all comments before they are posted
3. I leave all stupid/racist comments on the board
4. I delete all stupid/racist comments when I see them
5. Other????
So let me know what you guys think in the comments and vote in the poll to the right ------>

i choose 3. so that we can see how idiotic or pathetic or racist or lunatic that person is. just my 2 cents. btw just love the website, keep up the brilliant job.

DeleteOption 1... save yourself the headache. I don't mind registering. People will still be able to see your work but take away the anonymity and most of the moronic posting will stop most likely.

But not everyone wants to register. I know there's been blogs, etc. I haven't commented on because I didn't want to register for yer another whatever it is...
DeleteTrue, however for your own sanity I think it would be better to not see the racist etc. comments at all by having people register. Removing anonimity should at least significantly reduce the number of racist and/or weird/rude comments. If you look at the last month or so comment wise there's always only a select few people that post a comment anyway. Most of them are frequent commentors e.g. Fang, Zero, 3.5 etc.
DeleteI think you are doing an awesome job and I can imagine that negative comments like the one that sparked this issue are what in the end will cause you to stop this blog. And that would be the last thing I want ;-)
To make the first step I registered myself. Still anonymous but at least you can ban me now. ;-)

Don't be a do gooder.Comments are just that. People are going to say what they want and I for one don't have a problem with that. What I have a problem with is other people censoring what people say. Think about it this is a site for people who like toe cleavage and feet. That maybe weird for other people to understand but would you want to be censored about what you like. Freedom comes with a price......always!

DeletePeople will always have opinions, and since you are the creator of this great blog, I think you have the option of editing. However, editing will not change the minds of those who are inclined to share their disagreeable comments..... I personally enjoy the site because I love to see good looking women in high heeled pumps. I can spot one on the other side of an airline terminal and go out of my way to take a closer look. My wife wears them, and I always enjoy watching her walk....

Feed them with enough attention and they go on an idiotic rampage, mostly in the form of insulting/racist posts. Don't let guys like these ruin what you made here, by giving them credit for any inconvenience they might cause now and then. Delete their posts and that's that! Keep up the good work mate!

ReplyDeleteQuite frankly, I think you are giving too much attention to Mr. White Meat and his ilk. I think the protocol here is the protocol we were taught in grade school - ignore the immature, the bullies and the louts. Don't engage them. Don't give them more attention than they deserve as this only tends to help fill the voids in their lives and perpetuate their negative behaviors.
Don't let them get under your skin, Number 2; this only gets them off. Just delete the comments and get on with your good work.
Option 1, and capture bloggers IP address. Then pass on racist comments to the police.
ReplyDeleteI'd say #2. #1 is possible, but if you want to eliminate ALL racist comments, the only way is to be a true overlord. I don't like the racist comments nor the people that post them, so I'd be ok with either 1 or 2.
ReplyDeleteI've been coming to this site since its inception, and I've never understood giving negative opinions at all. Even when there is a chick that I don't care for, I just keep my mouth closed and wait for the next day. Number 2 gives us a great site without asking for anything in return.

Leave the stupid and/or racist comments alone. Idiots shouild have the right to speak their mind. The rest of us can filter what we read. You do enough without having to spend rime deciding what to keep and what to delete. Thanks for ALL the posts! You are doing a fabulous job.
